It is with regret that we must announce the closure of the Sustainable Living Market Thatcham and Newbury.
Unfortunately, what was once a busy and thriving market now post covid and due to the cost of living crisis is a quiet market. We were one of the first sustainable markets and now there are many for which we are very pleased, but it means we are struggling to attract stall holders and customers. With the start of the Saturday Thatcham market, we feel that we can’t compete.
We would like to thank everyone who has attended, whether as a stall holder or customer. We have loved meeting you all and seeing you start or continue your sustainable life.
If you would like to continue to support our stall holders please click visit our stall holder page.
You never know we may pop back up at some point but for now it is goodbye and thank you.
Kate, Rosemary and Jenny
The Sustainable Living Market was a quarterly market held at The Catholic Hall in Thatcham. The aim of the market is to help you live more sustainably by gathering together a group of small, local businesses who all sell sustainable products.
You can:
- Refill your cleaning and other products
- Replace your plastic throw away items with non-plastic reusable products
- Swap your beauty products to natural and organic products
- Buy gifts including locally handmade or pre-loved jewellery, beautiful homewares and sewn items from wash bags to bunting.
- Swap your baby and children’s clothes for a bigger size
- Buy local bread and eggs
- Stop for a cuppa and some cake

We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly. – Anne-Marie Bonneau
